Marriage
I was walking this morning in the cool morning air, the breeze nipping at my face there was mist in the trees, caught on the branches, like scarves of heavenly lace.
I passed a tall tree and was scolded with sharp cries from on high - a squirrel was hard at work it seems, and I disturbed him as I walked by.
He threw down a nut to the ground, then, quick as a flash, he scampered down, and went straight to it among the leaves and the sticks, and picked up this treasure he had found.
He tucked it in his cheek and twitched his tail, and without a glance he trotted away, to find a place to hide this treasure, to be enjoyed on a future cold day.
I smiled to think that this little creature knew just what to do to provide; for even though he had eaten quite a bit over the summer, for the future he'd set some aside.
It made me think of my days spent with you, treasured minutes turn into precious days, and I want to enjoy each one to t he full right now, but keep them to remember again along the way.
There is a little place deep inside my heart that glows with remembered bliss, and each little treasure I find every day, each time I think, "Oh, I want to keep this!"
There is that loving look that I see in your eyes that speaks volumes without saying a thing, and that gentle touch of your hand as you pass, or your strong arms surrounding me in a ring.
A thousand silver moments I have every day - and each day they are brand new, for each days' memories are just different enough to keep our love vibrant and true.
I thank God for the squirrel and the lesson he taught, the one only God could have taught, to enjoy what you have right here and now, but keep aside some treasures that can't be bought.
That little place in my heart that holds all this treasure is added to every day, but as I put new memories in the top, I pull out others to enjoy as I may.
What a gift we have in the memories we make, the things we keep shiny and new, for each one is a reminder that lights up our day, all these memories of how I love you.
And I thank God each morning and again at night for all the gifts He gives all the time - and especially for you, the best gift of all - that I am yours, and you are mine.
