Beyond measure

A crocus
comes blooming up
in the midst of snow
or after the first rains
on parched ground
with its color and simple beauty
causing us
to celebrate God’s work
and then seems to disappear
overnight.

A rainbow
by magic appears
after waters cease
and transforms the sky
drawing all eyes upwards
and in minutes
can vanish.

A sunset
is God’s never-repeated
masterpiece
of light, fire and shadow
that leaves us awe-stricken
for fleeting moments.

Arelene’s life
so short
from our human viewpoint
was a flash
of color and light
causing others
to rejoice in the Creator.

God’s glory
is not constrained
by our limited measures
(minutes, days, years)
but dazzles
with its beauty
and intensity
and the way it touches
human hearts.
