I look around and I cry
So much horror, I ask why
There is a frightening scene
A society so terrifyingly mean

Crime rates rise and fall
That’s not my point at all
What I see makes me weep
Almost as a poison it seeps

Is it those who maim and kill?
Are they, which make me ill?
Something more nefarious is there
Rampant more than I care

The irony of this is true
By feeling this, I partake too
The crime to which I admit guilt
That which my flesh has built

I pray against such a sin
I ask to be restored again
Only Jesus, has it right
He loves them all, day and night

He called the sin a sin
They were there even then
Woe to you, Jesus had said
Hypocrites, the way they lead

As with all Jesus has taught
more than just food for thought
It is today just as relevant
In us it is very prevalent

Woe to us is what I say
The way “Christians” are today
Hating the sinner as much as sin
That is the mess we are in

Forgive us Lord for this crime
Teach us while there is time
To love all with a pure heart
That is where we should start

Forget about judging others
It begins with us brothers
How can we minister the truth?
When we are not living proof

How can we speak of love
When we are short of the above
How can we say it is true
Then say to them shame on you

You who have done so wrong
You can’t really sing His song
We are not the only forgiven
All who call on Him, get to Heaven.

This was written out of love as a gentle rebuke to myself and all who need it. Something to chew on for believers. Sometimes we are the bigger stumbling block to His Gospel. If this applies to you, then I pray this moves you back to Jesus' commandment (Love as I have loved). If it doesn't apply to you, then let it be a reminder that it is easy to slip into self-righteousness and condmenation. As all that I write, it is something with which I have faced or more realistic that the Spirit has revealed to me about myself. God Bless.
