Why Worry When We Can Pray?

“Cast your burden upon the Lord and He will sustain you; He will never allow the righteous to be shaken” ( Psalm 55:22 NASB).

Worrying almost killed me. My heart was beating fast and thumping hard like horses racing inside my chest; my skin was cold and clammy, sweat pouring down my forehead. I was catching my breath so hard - all I could do was closed my eyes and gasped, “Lord, help me!”

That happened many years back when I faced a situation way beyond my control.
Since then, I learned to find my refuge and strength in Jesus, my strong Tower. He is my Ship when I need a harbor in times of storm. He is my solace each time I face stress and worries of life. In Him, I find that a problem not worth praying about is not worth worrying about.

Apostle Peter wrote in 1 Peter 5:7: “ Give all your worries and cares to God, for He cares about what happens to you."

You probably had your own share of worries and life’s burden. Very few people today, even most Christians know how to relax, for we live in a world of rushing hither and yon. Our high tension living, multiplied by family responsibilities and others’ high expectations can aggravate our already overworked nervous system.
We worry about the little things and the big things, our uncertain future,so we cross bridges ahead of time, adding to the tension. But there’s a bigger solution than any of our worries and problems.

Let go and let God. Completely surrender to God. He holds our future. Pray unceasingly.

“And which of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life span?” ( Luke 12:25)

Someone once said, “Worry is like a rocking chair that gives you something to do but won’t get you anywhere."

Worry does not empty tomorrow of its sorrow, rather it empties today of its joy.

So, why worry when we can pray?

"...a problem not worth praying about is not worth worrying about. Very catchy slogan, dear Sister. Oh, how well I remember panic attacks. Haven't had one in years. Praise the Lord!!!! But I'm sure I'll never forget them.

Gloria,
This is very beautifully written. I too have learned to hand my worries over to Jesus ... the one who can really make problems disappear!
What may seem like a mountian of a problem to us, is nothing in His almighty hands.
Keep writing to lift His Heavenly name. Bessie

Oh, Gloria...did I need to read this! How you spoke to me! Why do we worry so when we have the ANSWER and the SOLUTION to our problems right in our hearts - JESUS! We do need to 'let go' and allow God to do His work in our lives. Great piece, Gloria - thank you! Love, Peggy
