Short Stories
How To:
We will meet in the chat room and begin the story. Each of the initial characters who are residents of Earth have received the letter shown on the “First Installment” page, requiring them to report for Governmental Civilian Assignment duty. The characters have never met before, so perhaps there will be a bit of introductory chatting among the group, just as there is sometimes in a doctor‘s waiting room or such like. Then the Government Official will explain what the assignment is and we will go from there!
Each author/actor can speak at any time to any other person. Any visible actions, facial expressions, etc, can be given by putting them in ::. But you can not tell your character’s thoughts, because there would be no way for the others in the room to know that information.
Any questions or comments you do not want in the script should appear in parenthesis.
Example:
Marie: ::speaking to person next to her, Jon:: Hi. Have you ever been called for duty before?
Jon: No. My dad was called once, but I’ve never done it before. My dad had a jury duty assignment.
Marie: ::rises and stares out the window, biting her lip::
Jon: I don’t think it will take long or be that hard. We’ll be back to our normal lives before we know it.
Marie: (can we make up scenery or gadgets to play with?)
Moderator: Yes, you can add any tangible thing to the story.
Rules:
You create your character, choosing name, age, physical characteristics, skills, and personality. PM the moderator with your character’s name, approximate age, and physical characteristics.
As mentioned, you can add any tangible thing to the story. You can bring the story in any direction you want, but of course, other characters may pull it in a completely different direction.
You may not use swear words or crude words. If your character is the sort to use that type of words, you may say ::he swore:: or something to that effect.
Remember that this is a Christian group with a Christian reading audience. Most of the initial characters will be non-Christians and therefore will behave accordingly, but you must keep their words and actions such as would not offend a Christian to read.
If you cannot come to a session, please let the moderator know as far ahead of time as possible, so that the script can be changed accordingly (ie, send that character on a secret mission).
