“God is patient, God is kind, God is …”

“Our God and King. His love endures forever. For He is good, He is above all things. His love endures forever.”
God is love. One way to see this is true is to read “1 Corinthians 13:4” a passage about LOVE and what it is and is not. As you go through the passage, wherever you see the word “love,” substitute it with the word “God” and see if this is not a perfect fit. Sure one can argue that He is also many other good things like compassion, patience and truth, to name a few, but all those things are contained in or is a resultant of LOVE. If one has compassion, then one must have love – and so on. If we could look into God’s being, we would find nothing else but love and all that is encompassed in it. But we don’t have to look that deep, love is evident with God on His gentle surface, on His kind face.
When Jesus saw the massive crowds of the sick and crippled who had come to see Him from so far because they believed in His healing powers, He was greatly moved by what He saw and He pitied them. This shows that God IS compassion, hence, love. When the disciples continued to show doubt and fear each time they were threaten by the rough storms and seas, even though He was, has been, and will always be right beside them, God did not abandon or give up on them, even after death. This shows that God IS patience, hence, love. And when Jesus taught the crowd about the laws and ways of His Father’s Kingdom, even though the officials were threatening His life because His teaching and actions went against the laws of the people, Jesus continued to show up at the temples to teach, and He traveled through many different lands to deliver the Good News. This shows that God IS truth, hence, love. Take LOVE out of the being of Christ Jesus, and none of His actions, or miracles, or words of teaching would remain the same. God would not be the same and thereby not our God. This loveless god would have abandoned us long ago.
So no matter what words we choose to describe God, it all is contained in the act of love. God is compassion, patience, truth … God is, was and will always be pure love.
