Affliction. Don't you pray more when afflicted? I don't think we would have some of the psalms without affliction. The Spirit intercedes for us when we pray because we do not know what to pray for. What a blessing to know that God has brought more prayer into your life. Look at Job. I don't think that I need to say much about this, as I know that you are a man(or woman) of the word and are very familiar with Job's afflictions. But this particular spot 42 is beautiful. First verse 1-6 Job sees and is blessed in humility. Then God turns to those three morons and sends them to Job. Job learned to pray. Through Jobs new found image of himself he was able to have compassion on these dudes and also through the new prayer life that God has given him, which was brought through understanding, he was able to pray for these guys in a way that was acceptable, even more than sacrifice. The sacrifice did not clear these men, it was only to give them a visual unto their own destitute souls, it was Job's intercession that saved them from God's wrath. What was the result of Job's trial? His real life began, the last only leading up to this beautiful victory sustained by the Lord. Through affliction Job increased. Isn't the material in the old testament a picture of the spiritual fro our lives? Job increased through affliction. Egypt afflicted Israel and they increased. Rome afflicted the church and she increased. You see, satan was pointing out that Job was stealing God's glory because of the gifts that God was passing out to those whom He favored. Was Job stealing God's glory? isaiah 48:10-11. No, and God proved it not only to satan but to all the hosts of heaven and mankind. The thing that makes affliction so hard is that we have these same three morons in our own head reasoning with us trying to explain why we are being afflicted and even trying to change our perception of God through babbling. God is faithful and this is the gospel, without His faithfulness, who could trust Christ? james 5:7 . God has planted His seed of affliction in you and waits for the harvest patiently knowing that their is a crop to be had just as in all the other years that He has yeilded crops in feilds that out number the sand on the sea shore. Remember the genesis account that I started to talk about? God first seperated light from dark. Their is no darkness in God, none at all. Now with this new light in our lives we have undrestanding as to the pains of creation that is taking place in our lives. What is the difference between an atom and the world and you as far as preparation? Human perspective. This beautiful world was brought about with time, which is a creation, and patience and love. Notice God pauses a minute between each session, He is the one that thought up swells. Surfers do not control the waves, we sit at the seashore waiting for the next swell, and even in the midst of a beautiful swell we wait for the next wave. Bro, check out God seperating the land from water!!! Their were valcanos and land moving and crazing things happening, fire was shooting out of every pour of the earth, great pain and affliction came upon the old earth that was so perfectly simetrical and layers with fire land and water. The old things and old ways and old thoughts were done away with but in great wisdom because God saw the harvest that was to come out of carfully, if we can call valcanos and plate techtonics careful like the recent tsunami, separating the land from the water, the soul from the spirit the wheat from the chaff. None of this could have been know but first that light should be separated from the darkness that we can see what was taking place and even rejoice what was finish product and be able to rejoice in His faithfulness in our own affliction.
