The dirt under my finger nails,

the weight upon my chest...

the tide washing me under,

My world has been set ablaze.

Now I sit... and wait...

wait for my time.

Tears rush forward,

but I allow no exit

My pleas long forgot,

my fight long past.

Through the window I behold truth,

I see light, but my pride darkens the skies.

A hand of trust comes forward,

to guide my blindness

...but I turn away, turning back to the fire.

Slowly the burn begins...

... and forever it will stay.


(In life sometimes our trust becomes hurt and torn. And slowly over time we begin to give up on trusting anyone, even God. This poem is about what happens when we give up on trust all together, in the end all you become left with is the burning that overcomes your life. Proverbs 3:4-5 "Trust God from the bottom of your heart, don't try to figure out everything on your own. Listen for God's voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; he's the one who will keep you on track.")
