“The Sweetest Words”

"Do not condemn others, and God will not condemn you; forgive others, and God will forgive you" (Luke 6.37-38).


What are the three sweetest words that you can say to someone? The effect is the same with any language. And the Bible talks about these words and their outcome many times. At this point you might answer, "I love you?" As sweet as these words may sound, there are yet three other words that are even sweeter. They are, "I am sorry" and followed by "I forgive you."

In today's world, the words "I love you" are thrown around often and easily. People say "I love you" to just about anything. Though the words' sincerity is sometimes felt, the casual manner in which they are used diminishes the depth and strength of the phrase itself.

But when was the last time you said, "I am sorry" to someone? Remember how free it made you feel afterwards? It was as if by uttering the phrase "I am sorry", a heavy and dark force was unleashed out of your soul, leaving you to feel up lifted, lighter, less guilty and less stressed. Then on the other side of the coin, if you granted someone sincere forgiveness, the reward here was two fold. The act itself made you feel liberated, and the knowledge of knowing you brought someone else peace made you feel right again with Jesus and God's world. "I am sorry" and "I forgive you" are both healing phrases that encompass several of God's 10 commandments.

The next time someone hurts you and they say, "I am sorry," try to say "I forgive you" and grant them what your Father would grant you. For God did say in his book, "Do not condemn others, and God will not condemn you; forgive others, and God will forgive you." (Luke 6.37-38)
