Feeling Afraid?

Feeling afraid? Are you scared you won’t fit in with everybody if you don’t engage in promiscuous sex? Or you won’t measure up unless you get that tattoo or be like your neighbor when it comes to things?
By the account of every survey measuring Christian behavioral trends and society in general, Christians are reported to behave just as and, in some research studies, more inappropriately than their ungodly counterparts when it comes to illicit sexual behaviors, divorce, abortion, marital faithlessness. Christians are also reported to exhibit higher degrees of dishonesty, a lack of integrity and stingier then the population in general. Why do people who profess to be followers of Jesus Christ be so un-Christ like? Behaviorists who study such issues report Christians reflect their cultures because they do not want to appear to be exceptions. To put it another way, they want to be “with it,” “normal,” “not stand apart,” “not be different”.
Since humankind began their walk on the earth, God knew it would be difficult to follow His commands even though they are clear and simple because of sin. God was also fully aware that those willing to follow His commands would be few. In Christ’s parables, He said on more than one occasion that many would be called to the Christian walk but few would actually be chosen. So many who call themselves Christians ARE of the world as demonstrated by study after study. Therefore, it should be no surprise to Christian scholars and observers that people who profess to be Christians are more sinful than their non-Christian counterparts. What many Christians fail to recognize is that Christ knew what He is talking about when it comes to humankind. These facts also illustrate and suggests that some Christians believe that once they verbalize their belief in Jesus salvation is theirs and they can do whatever they please believing that a just God will not condemn them to eternal damnation (true—God does not condemn a person to hell. They do so themselves by their won free will or choice).
So it may be said that many so-called Christians are Russian roulette Christians (or label wearing Christians). They are going to take the chance at sinning as much as they believe they can get away with thinking they will have sufficient time to make their peace with God and enter into heaven. This is an extremely dangerous approach one’s Christianity.
Some thinkers believe that much of the Christian attitude with respect to their behavior and salvation is due to their lack of concern for their own mortality. Thanatologists (specialists who study death and dying issues) find Americans, in general, believe that it is the old that die and the young do not. Many young people behave as though they are immortal. It is reported that each day 6108 Americans will die. Of this figure, 81% or 4947 are 45 years old and older. 12% or 733 are between the ages 19 and 44 years of age. 5% or 425 are birth through 18 years of age. To make these figures more significant, each hour roughly 205 persons 45 years of age or older will die. 31 persons will be between the ages 19 through 44 years. 18 persons will be between birth and 18 years of age!
Remember, the above figures are not a week or a month but each and every day! Every person who read this statement will experience their death. That death will occur on a day that is known only to God and no one else. God has freely given you a choice as to whether you will follow His Will or your world. God will not condemn you. You will condemn yourself should hell be your demise on the day of your death. If you are not following in Jesus Christ’s path at this moment, you should be very afraid!!!

A well-written piece. We should live each day as if it were our last, and pray that God will give our unsaved loved ones the wisdom to stop playing Russian Roulette with their own eternal destiny.
