Does it sometimes seem there's a puppeteer
With a mesmerizing ring...
A black top hat and wicked smile
In charge of 'pulling the strings'?

He controls the movement of your limbs,
(Your motions mimic his kind;)
And if he were allowed...this puppeteer
Would likely challenge your mind!

Do you ever feel suspended in space
No footing seems to be found?
With manipulation and ordered ways
Your feet never reach the ground.

You think of the dilemma you are in;
(The strings...you decide to keep.)
Devoid of the 'pull' of the puppeteer
You'd tumble down in a heap!

So...how does one deal with the 'strings' of life
That fetter...yet hold upright?
That solution, my friend, can't come from me...
I'm entangled...and not so bright.

"So...how does one deal with the 'strings' of life
That fetter...yet hold upright?"

Good question, Howard! Where is an answer?
Really, each of us feels some puppeteer (‘strings’ of life) who controls the movement of our limbs…but ‘yet hold upright’! Why? ….Perhaps all depends on a puppeteer we choice. The more we have ‘strings’ of life the more our limbs have training! So…not too bad we have a puppeteer (maybe a white top hat?!) sometimes. Life is a great sport ground! Oh, I have never thought I could be winner…but I’ll never come off loser!

Great poem, Howard!
Thank you for a smile!

This is terrific, Howard. Can't imagine anyone not able to relate. Makes me reflect on the oh too many times I've been the puppeteer. Somewhere in our armor there must be a nifty pair of scissors, sharpened to perfection, to snip those strings once and for all. How different the grace of God's love...a love with no strings...a love that risks letting us choose. Well, think I'll go in search of those scissors, they've got to be somewhere. I think I have a bit of snipping to do.
Thanks so much, and blessings always.....
