When the Bible says that people are 'slaves to sin' its being very serious. Have any of you ever had some form of an addiction? Not necessarily to drugs and alcohol, but maybe tv? or even a computer? I'm not saying tv's and pc's are bad. Its the opposite...but too much of a good thing is bad. Sometimes, those things become idols, aka false gods. I know from experience; I've been there. Tv can be very addicting, and it usually starts out with one tv show. You just love that show. And thats alright, however, then you begin spending all your time watching tv. You'll watch anything that comes on, even when 'nothings on'; still you stare at the little box in front of you. It consumes your mind, and secretly, it is eating away your life.

Little by little you are giving yourself to it.

Thats the way sin is. It devours you, and once it has you enslaved, its a long and difficult task to overcoming it. Only through prayer and true reliance on God can you be rescued from slavery, and Only through One Being can you recieve the power. You see, Jesus said "I have overcome the world", and through us he continues to overcome the world. Through the power of the Holy Spirit we can all be freed from our sin.

Freedom from sins, however, does not mean a life without temptation. It simply means a life of resistance to sin. Remember, when you 'resist the devil, He must flee.' This is true, but he can still come again to tempt you. He waits until you're weak; he doesn't dare attack at your highest moments. Remember when he chose to tempt Jesus??? When he was fasting! Jesus had gone 40 days without properly nourishing His body! Satan had the perfect moment to catch Jesus weak. And yet, Jesus still overcame satan at His weakest point ever.

Don't you see? we can have that! We can resist Satan. Remember we cannot be tempted beyond what we can bare. God promised us that, and He is true to His word. All you have to do is ask Him for the power! Remember "I can do all things through Him who strengthens me!"

If you're reading this right now, and you're thinking "i don't know Jesus like this; He's not in my heart", then please, pray a simple prayer IN YOUR OWN WORDS. Ask Christ to come into your life and divinely alter it. Ask Him to convict you of your sins, and to turn your heart from evil ways. Ask for His power from on high! "ask and you shall recieve". Also, read your Bible, but don't just read blankly- study it and ask God what He is trying to teach you from His Word. And, don't forget to apply the Bible to your life!Finally, tell people what Christ has done for you! You are a 'new creature' in Christ! Let people get to know Christ through you!
