The little old woman was sitting on the front porch of the nursing home, she was gently rocking in her favorite rocking chair in the early hours of the morning. The air was clean and had a hint of gardenia's flowing in the breeze that smelled so sweet. She was rocking , until she fell into a sleep. Now she was dreaming of years long past.
It was six o'clock in the morning and she was headed out to the gate to meet her companion Black Jack. They were going for their early morning ride, just as they had done for several years now. Mrs. Katie's hair was long and shone like gold in the first rays of the sun, the birds were singing a song of happiness. What a beautiful morning to go for a ride.
Black Jack, was waiting patiently at the front gate for his friend to join him, he would give a neigh and run around in circles to catch her attention, " I am coming Black Jack , we will soon be off to our adventure before you know it."
They were riding across the fields, it was spring there and all the wild flowers were making their appearance above the ground. Everything seemed to be more colorful than usual Mrs. Katie noticed as they were riding. They had their special place that they would go, and take a little break, It was down by the little creek with snowy white sand on the edges, Black Jack enjoyed pawing in the water. There by the creek was a trail that led into the deep woods and then opened up into this wide opened plain with the most beautiful flowers and trees that she had ever seen. They were going there soon as Black Jack finished his playing.
Up and ready, off they went, galloping down the trail. They finally came through to the end of the trail, and started into the open field, Mrs. Katie, noticed again that something was very different today, everything seemed more beautiful than usual, all the colors of the flowers and trees seemed more brighter. Everything seemed so much more alive to her.
Then after a few moments Black Jack stopped in his tracks with his ears perked up as if he was hearing something, "What is it Black Jack?" Mrs. Katie asked." What do you hear boy?"
Then all of a sudden she could hear this beautiful music coming from nowhere, traveling in the breeze. It sounded like angels singing, the most awesom singing that she had ever heard.
Then she was caught by surprise when she heard her name being called. The gentle voice was calling to her, "come home Katie, come home." Mrs. Katie was curious and gave Black Jack a nudge. They moved forward towards the center of the field then right there in front of them shone this bright beautiful light. Black Jack moved forward and stepped right into the center of the light. Then they started to just float upward. Mrs. Katie knew then what this was all about, she just hung on to Black Jack's neck and up they went. She saw the sky open up
and she could see the gates of heaven there, then she saw her husband standing there with Jesus. Her husband was calling her, Katie come home, come home.
It was time for lunch, the nurse went out to wake Mrs. Katie from her nap, but Mrs. Katie did not wake up. The nurse went and told the rest of the staff, Mrs. Katie has gone home.

Gramatical critique if anything else:
In the second paragraph, it should read, "birds were" not, "birds was." Also, you misspelled "gate" as "gait" two times in the story.
I thought it was kind of cool that the two went outside the small earthly gates to go into the large gates of Heaven.
