Chapter 2

7 months have passed
since the night Kit
met Kat....And alot has happened....
Kat had grown into
a beautiful,loving
happy cat. Many people
had commented to
Momma and kit about how
they never saw a
cat so loving and
socialable like Kat is.
Kat loved everyone;
young and old..It did
not matter to Kat who
they were. And everyone
liked kat....except
grandmother, that is.

For some reason beyond
Kit amd Kat's
understanding,grandmother
did not like
Kat at all. And that
made Kit feel sad,
for she loved them both
with all her heart.

As Kit was sitting
at the kitchen table
having her breakfast,
she asked her Momma...
Momma why do
you suppose grandmother
hates Kat so much?
Kat never did anything
to her to cause
grandmother to dislike
her so. I do not
understand it Momma,
and it makes me feel sad too

Oh honey, I do not
know why your grandmother
does not like Kat...
She never tells me why.
We just got to keep
praying for her honey that
Jesus will heal her heart
so she can love again.
Momma said...

I will Momma,cuz I know
Jesus going to save her
and come live in her
heart too,replied Kit.

That is right honey...
Always believe that even
when grandmother gets
grumpy and seems unkind.
She just needs Jesus is all.
Momma said to Kit.
I will remember that Momma,
I promise, Kit replied.

Time to get off to the
bus stop Kit, I'll see you
when you home from
school today. I love you honey,
and I am sure in her
own way grandmother does
too. Momma said.

Kit runs over to Momma
and gives her a hug,
and saids,I love you too
Momma. Bye for now.
And out the door Kit runs
off to the school bus stop.

A hour goes by,and grandmother
not up yet. Hmm 9am and she
not up yet. That is odd.
She is always up before
9am. Better go check on her,
Momma thinks as she walks
to grandmother's bedroom.
There she was still in bed!
That is odd.
Something may be wrong.,
thinks Momma as she
approaches grandmother's bed.

Mother you alright? ask Momma softly.
What,do I look alright?
No,I am not alright!
I got alot of pain this
morning,more than usual.
So I just took a pain
pill, waitng for it to
work,if it works.
Dumb doctors said I can
only have one pill every
4 hours. What they know
about pain anyways!?
Grandmother said moodily.

Mother you know those
are very strong pain pills,
and that you got to be
careful how you take them.
And not mix then
with any of your other
medicines either. Ok, so you
took one pain pill a few
minutes go right? Let me
write that down here in
your notepad, Momma saids.

Gez,what you think I
can't remember nothing?
I know when I took it,
and I won't forget it,
grandmother said angrily.

Now Mother I am just
trying to help here,
and you know that.
Momma replied trying to
calm grandmother down.

Yeah right. Ok, ok. You
got any of that vanilla
ice cream left? I
would like to have
some, grandmother said..

I am sorry mother but its
all gone, Momma replied.
So,go get some more...
Can't be that hard for you
to go up to the store for
me..Can it? Grandmother
replies..

Momma hesitates for she
is expecting a important
phone call soon,and
does not want to miss it..
"I can go to the store in
a hour Mother,but right
now I am expecting a
important phone call,
Momma saids.

So,they can always call back..
Or I can tell them
too,if they call before you
get back. Why you just
standing there for?
Oh, you need some money now.?
Grandmother said annoyed.

Momma just knew grandmother
wasn't going to be quiet
and let the subject drop..
She just go on and on.
And no she never takes any
money from her mother
for she always saids,
can't you handle your
finances any better Faith?

Alright Mother I'll go to the
store for you now after
I bring the phone in here.
Please just stay in this room
til I get back cuz you know
those pain pills make you
feel dizzy sometimes,and I
don't want you to fall and
hurt yourself.You sure you'll
be alright til I get back?
Momma said concerned.

Gee just go..I'll be alright.
I ain't getting out of
this bed.Hurts too much
to move far,grandmother replied.
Alright I am going now Mother,
Momma said as she came
back in the room with the
phone,and hooked it up.
I'll be back soon as I can,
Momma saids.
Ok bye, grandmother replies.

Grandmother then hears
Momma leaving,and thinks..
Good she gone..Now I can
get myself another pain pill
without her knowing about it.
Cuz I need it right now,
I can't wait another 4 hours.
So grandmother turns to her
bedside table where her pills
are kept neatly and in order,
with a glass of water nearby.

Now where are my glases?
thinks grandmother..Hmm,
Oh gee I left them on
the kitchen table,Rats!
grandmother said to herself.
Oh well,I know that my
pain pills are in the first
bottle nearest my bed here.
She reaches over for the pills,
and accidently knocks
a couple bottles onto
the floor. Oh no! grandmother
yells. I got to pick
them up before Faith
gets back here, thinks
grandmother. Oh it hurts
but I got to do it.
So grandmother gets slowly
out of bed, and starts
to pick up the bottles that
fell down.

While she was busy doing that,
Kat had come into her room,and
sat on the bureau waching
her quietly. Kat knew she
wasn't suppose to be in
here, but she felt
something was not
right with grandmother.

Finally grandmother got the
bottles back to the table..
Out of breath for a minute
cuz of the pain, she just
lies there exhausted. Now
I got to get a pain pill..
grandmother thinks as she
looks at the bottles. But
which is which? I
can't read the labels without
my glasses. thinks grandmother.
Oh but I know my pain
pills are tiny pink pills.
I'll find they that way.
by color. So she proceeds
to look thru the pills til
she found the pink pills
in a bottle. Good I do not
have to look thru all these
bottles. I found them now!
grandmother thinks excidedly.

All this time Kat sat quietly,
watching grandmother intently.

Grandmother takes 1 pill
out of the bottle, and
reaches for her water, just
as Kat jumps suddenly on
her bed,and knocks the
bottle,and the pills unto
the floor!

Grandmother screams furiously
at kat, and throws
the glass of water at Kat,
as Kat runs out the room
with the bottle in her mouth.

Stupid,dumb,no-good cat!
Grandmother yells,just as
Momma walks into the house
from the store.

Oh no! What is wrong now?!
Momma thinks as she hurries
to grandmother's room...As
she enters the room,Momma
sees the pills all over the
floor,and grandmother looking
real mad. Mother what is going
on in here? Why are
your pills all over
the floor? Momma asks.

That stupid cat comes in here
as I was about to take
1 pain pill,and jumps on my
bed and knocks them out
of my hand! That is
what going on in here!
grandmother yells at Momma.

Kat has come back into the
room slowly,unnoticed by
grandmother,and drops the
empty pill bottle at Momma feet.

Momma thinking..so she was
going to take another pain pill,
but I remember now that
the doctors said she could have
a extra one,if it was really
necessary cuz of the pain.
Hmm..Momma thought,as she
notices kat at her feet with
the empty pill bottle..Momma
bends down and starts picking
up the pills; sighing to herself...
Oh Kat what have you done?
Then Momma gets a thought saying,
Look at the Label; What,Momma thinks?
Then Momma turns the bottle over
and reads the label...
Oh my God! Momma said out
loud as she read the label
on the bottle.
Mother these are not your
pain pills, but your
sleeping pills you were about
to take! And you know that
your doctors said never to
mix the two,cuz you may
never wake up! Oh mother!
Where are your glasses
anyways? Mother you were
about to take a pill without
reading the label?
Momma ask unbelievingly.

I know my pain pills are pink!
grandmother answered stubbornly.

Yes Mother they,but so
are your sleeping pills!
Have you forgotten! I mark
them especially right on
the label so you would know
which is which. But you just
decided to take one without
being able to read the labels!
Mother do you realizes you
could of died, right here,
alone?! Momma said crying now..
Mother I love you..You just
gave me a awful scare!
Don't you think its about
time you let Jesus help you
and come into your heart,
and be your Savior and Lord.
Mother,you could of entered
into eternity not ready to
meet God! Momma cries out.
Oh Mother please,listen to
me for once. I want to
see you up in Heaven with
Daddy,and Joshua,and Jesus!
Please mother won't you let
Jesus come into your
heart now? He has been
knocking on your heart's door
for a long time now.
Momma? Momma saids
softly to grandmother.

For once in her life
grandmother was speechless.
At first she didn't know
what to say or think. Finally
she lifts up her head,and
saids to Momma,Faith you mean
to tell me that Kat saved
my life? Grandmother asked,
queitly,all anger gone
out of her now.

Yes mother Kat saved your life,
even after how you have
treated her so mean for no
reason! Momma replied to
grandmother.

Grandmother lowers her head,
and moans, Oh God
I am so sorry!
So ashamed. If You
will have me Lord,
I coming to You right now,
and I asking You to forgive
me of all my sins just like
Faith,and Kit,and Joshua,and
my dearest husband Adam
have told me to do many times
in the past. Lord I am new at
this,so if I don't say it just
right I am sorry..I want You
in my heart and life Jesus,
for real this time,
grandmother prays,crying softly.

Oh mother! Momma saids
rushing to grandmother side,
and puts her arms around her
and saids...Yes He will
receive you mother..For
He loves you so very much.
Oh thank You Lord,for
You know I have prayed and longed
for this moment for my mother!
Momma cries out.

And they sit there side
by side as Momma helps
grandmother to come to Jesus,
and receive Him as
her Savior and Lord.
After they had prayed and
thanked God,Momma saids
to grandmother..Mother there
is one more thing you
need to do,and that is to
make things right with Kat.

Grandmother looks at Momma,
then looks at kat sitting
quietly in the door way...
Do you think she will forgive
me too? Grandmother asks anxiously.

Well lets find out. Call her to
you Mother. Momma saids
as she gets up from the bed.
Grandmother hesitantly reaches
out her hand, and
softly calls...Kat come here
please. Come here sweety.

Well that is what Kat been
waiting to hear for so long!
She is on that bed in a
flash..and approaches grandmother
slowly,for she did not want to scare her.
Here Kat, grandmother saids
gently...and Kat rubs her
head against grandmother's hand,
and begins to purr loudly.

Oh Faith,she likes me!
grandmother saids amazed,
and crying as she takes up
Kat into her arms,and kat
just purrs the more
and snuggles against grandmother
showing her that she
indeed did love her.

Momma comes over to the bed,
and looks on just
amazed,and so happy.

Then Momma notices the time....
Kit will be home soon..
She got to get a
snack ready for her.
Mother Kit will be home soon..
I got to go and fix her a
snack now.. Momma tells grandmother.

You tell that dear child that
her grandmother wants to
see her as soon as she gets
home.I want to tell her myself
all about this,if I may?
Is that ok with you Faith dear?
grandmother asked.

For a moment Momma did not
know what to say, for
grandmother had never asked
her,but told her what to do before.
Yes mother I will tell kit you
want to see her,and
yes,you can tell her yourself
all about this..Momma replies
as she goes out the room
to fix Kit a snack.

As Momma is in the kitchen just
putting things away from
making kit as snack...
Kit comes running into the house
saying..
Momma I am home now.

I am right here Kit,
Momma saids as she walks
up to her smiling.
And grandmother wants to
see you as soon you finish
your snack.

Kit wonders why grandmother
wants to see her..
She hopes everything ok.
So kit finishes her
snack and goes into
grandmother's bedroom...

Kit looks at her grandmother,
then looks at Kat sleeping on
her bed.. Oh no,
thought Kit...
I am sorry grandmother,
I do not know how Kat got
in here. Kit saids as she
approaches the bed to get Kat,
and take her out of the room.

Oh Kit she alright honey.
Come sit by me...I have
something wonderful to tell you,
grandmother saids.

Kit sits down next to
grandmother on the bed,
and grandmother proceeds to
tell her all about what
happened,and how she accepted
Jesus in her heart
and life today.

Oh grandmother! I been
praying for this for such a
long time! Oh thank You Jesus!
Kit replies happily.

And Kit honey,I now surely know
that God did send Kat
to you. Forgive me
honey for doubting you.
Grandmother saids.
I do grandmother cuz I
love you. Kit replies.

Kit turns and gives her
grandmother a hug and a kiss.
Oh honey thank you for that!
grandmother saids..

Grandmother I still do have
one question,if you
want to answer it..
Kit saids shyly.

What is your question Kit?
I will answer you,if I can.
Grandmother relpied.

Well,I never understood why
you keep pushing Kat away,
and acting mean to her,and not
liking Kat when she done
nothing to hurt you.
Why did you hate Kat
grandmother? Kit asked.

Grandmother looks down at
her hands,and then lifts her
head and looks right at kit,
and answers..Kit I have been
a stubborn,selfish old woman...
When your grandfather died,
my heart just closed up..and
I became angry and bitter
towards God and people.
I just could not understand why
God took your grandfather from
me,the only man I ever loved
with all my heart and soul.
He was my world.And when he
died,part of me died with him...
and I was afraid to love
again. Afraid to love anyone
or anything,thinking they
too would be taken from me.
Do you understand me so far
Kit?" Grandmother asked.

Yes grandmother I do understand
that you got your heart
hurt,and did not think you could
love again. But today Jesus
gave you His Love,and I know
you are beginning to love
again, Kit replied.

Oh honey Yes He did!
And He took away my pain too!
Oh bless His Name!
Oh Kit your Daddy would have
been so proud of you!
Such a smart,good girl!
He and your Momma did
teach you right, I know
that now Kit.

And Kit about Kat, why I
keep pushing her away,
I was afraid to let her
love me too,thinking she
be taken away too.
Kit when I was about your age,
I had a kitty,and I loved
my kitty just like you
love Kat...One day I had a
fight with my step-brother
and he took my kitten,
and brought her outside as
I was running after to him,
begging him to let her go..
but he threw her in traffic on
a busy street outside
our house right before my
eyes,and she was killed,
ran over by more than one car.
And I hated him for that.
So I was afraid to love your Kat
thinking that she be taken
away too. Oh honey I never
hated Kat, I was
just so scared to love again,
Grandmother said crying now.

Oh grandmother I am so sorry
about your cat! I just
knew there was a reason for
why you acted the way you
did.And grandmother even then
Kat and I, we still loved you,
and always will. Kit said
holding grandmother's
hand in hers.

Now dear,we going on
a wonderful journey together
with your Momma and Jesus..
And we going to have such
fun and adventures! grandmother
relpies smiling at Kit.

Yes grandmother,and with Kat
too, saids Kit happily..
