Words That Heal
“Pleasant words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the bones" (Prov.16:24).
Words that are guarded by the Holy Spirit encourage, comfort and can bring healing to a broken heart, a wounded spirit, and even a physical ailment. How pleasant are the sound of praises and positive affirmations! What a comfort and peace it brings to someone in despair to hear a soothing, calm assurance from someone who truly cares.
“Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord and my Redeemer” (Psalms 19:14).
Apostle James wrote, “If anyone does not stumble in what he says, he is a perfect man, able to bridle the whole body as well.” (3:2)
At times we may have trouble putting words together to say what we really mean. Our words even from the good intention of the heart maybe misinterpreted by others. Our tone of voice may not sound so soothing to others’ ears. As Christians, we are expected to respond properly whenever we encounter improper speech habits. If we are hurt by someone, we need to have the boldness to go directly to the person involved to clarify the facts. (Matthew 18:15) A spirit of love that believes the best until facts proven otherwise. (1 Corinthians 13:6-7)
Mother Teresa once said, “Let no one come to you without leaving happier and better.”
I love to be in the company of optimistic people, who are never short of kind words to say, and are honest enough to tell us if we are of fault in a tactful way. If there’s one thing that can really make my day, it will be an affirming word that says, “You are important to me. You are loved.”
Someone said, “If you don’t have anything good to say, just keep quiet.” I’ll say we can all see the beauty in things and people . Let us be generous of praise and stingy of criticisms.
God loves you just as you are. You are made for His greater purpose. You are unique. You and I are valuable in God's eyes.
I praise God for the healing power of His Word. Let those godly words from your loving heart flows today. And smile. Jesus loves you.
