Restless for God
“Make me know Your ways, O Lord; Teach me Your paths. Lead me in Your truth and teach me; For You are the God of my salvation; For you I wait all day.”
( Psalms 25:4-5)
I’m thirsty. But this thirst is not from lack of drinking water and extreme temperature. It’s “dehydration of my spirit.” I long to be submerged in the streams of the Living Water, to drink that smooth, satisfying drink of life . I want to be closer and closer to the heart of God.
I long to know Jesus more . But don’t get me wrong. I don’t want just “head knowledge."
Knowledge fades away . I like to be embraced eternally in His goodness and love. I want to know Him and the power of His Resurrection. I want to be released from this restlessness and confusion inside of me due to pre-occupation with myself. Unless I deny myself and focus on Him, I can’t rest in His presence.
Lord, here I am, humble me in Your Presence. I am nothing without You. I’m just a tiny speck in this vast Universe. Help me to deny myself of things that I want. Those things that only give me instant gratification and everything that gratifies my flesh- they are useless, meaningless. They only make me vain and proud. I need You, Lord. Even when this world is pulling me apart in different directions, I want to just rest in Your arms. Hide me under the shadow of Your Wings. I let go of my foolishness and wicked thinking. You are my Potter. I am the clay. Refine me like a shining silver. I’m ready.
Yesterday, I wrote in my gratitude journal something that amazed me. It’s a question and answer I made for myself. “If I’m given only 6 months to live, what would I like to do and choose to have?” First in my list, I penned, “peace of mind.” The rest that follows are things that money can’t buy. Example, love of my family, success for my children, spread the Good News of Jesus to as many people I know, write a book that will glorify God, etc.
How about you? What would you do if you are not given too many days to live? I pray that you will think seriously of what it will be like to live that life after this one. God can not lie. His Word is truth. In My Father’s House are many mansions. We will never thirst, nor hunger, no more sorrow and pain. I don’t mind singing songs for Him all day long. I am so restless for “that” special time I can be face to face with Jesus. But for now, I can only imagine how it feels. I delight in knowing Him. So I can say wholeheartedly, “My Lord and My God.”
As long as I’m thirsty, I will never stop seeking and searching. “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness for they shall be satisfied” ( Matthew 5:6 ).
Sometimes “restlessness” can be a good thing. If it’s restlessness to be more like Jesus. Amen!

"Numbers 6:24,25,26"
This is heartfelt and right on target. Wahoo! We hunger and thirst for Him, not being complacent, but pressing in to His presence. This is super and such an encouragement.
