Alas, the sun has set and the work aided by the loving touch of the light is done. The cooling winds of dusk are a blessed relief to the tired hands of the worker, a merciful sign one has to walk away and rest. I will remember the joy of the goal, the hope of good intentions, and the trust in a faithful Savior. Only the power of the Most Holy can bring in the harvest now.
You came to us homeless and needing love, of which we gave you both. We were hard on you, as there were many strongholds to breach, and corners of your heart which never felt shame for your betrayals. The pain was hard to bear for all of us. Your pain was our pain as we carried your wounds to the Healer. May He continue to heal and strip away that which is a millstone about your neck, keeping you from the finish line. Our hopes for your future will never change, only the task set before us. Our grief is overwhelming in our failure to bring about true repentance in your life. Only the True Vine knows if a seed has been sown.
From our perspective in the horizontal, we see a life giving crop showered into the shallow soil of a hard and selfish heart, gripped in the addiction to serving self – sprouting but for a brief moment – before sizzling in the sun for the lack of depth, roots withering before able to grasp. We cast the seed, only now with hopes another will reap the harvest. We have run this bumpy path together and finally our roads divide. It was shattering to find we have been stumbling along while you raged and thwarted our unity of purpose, strength collapsing to discover your duplicity and lies designed to delay and derail the progress to your freedom. Your embrace of lying vanities has forsaken your own mercy. Where we have failed, only He is able!!
We walk away beaten, but not dejected. Faith in One who has overcome remains in the ashes of a scorched heart. We will no longer cheer on this façade, for our souls begged for nothing but authenticity and trust. We tear down all that is fake and nothing more than a cheap imitation, for He who is Truth and Light will not allow us to toil in vain.
What more can we possibly say? How long were our hearts to bleed for you while you stared on indifferently? I give you into the hands of a merciful Father who is more than able to comfort. Until you discover your freedom lies in your surrender, you will be bound by that which you embrace.
