What had the glory, for us, sought?
A Son submitted-crucified.
What had the glory to us brought?
A righteous love, for our sake, died.

What path did that glory take?
Sacrifice, by which eternity and time shook.
What act did this glory make?
A bruised Son, His Father forsook.

Who now brings us a glory so great?
The risen and righteous Advocate Son.
For what purpose take we this fate?
A sundry people to be holy and one.

And now this glory, our purpose make,
Seeking unity by His mighty hand.
Holiness, truth and love our stake,
So we show our Father as One so grand.

So forsake pride and petty strife,
And imitate a Son's submission,
Make His glory our aim in life,
Unity through love a church's commission.

By this we show Him as One so true,
Making God's glory as our goal.
To the world we show the gospel view,
'Tis real unity, in Him made whole.
