Romans Chapter 6; Hebrews 3:13; II Peter 2:20-22

Let not those who are hardening in a backslidden condition think they are safe from My judgment, saith the Lord. I see many adulterers and drunks going around boasting that they are saved by My grace, and it doesn’t really matter how they act or what they do with whom.

Consider a piece of petrified wood. It started out just like any other piece of wood. But over the ages the forces of nature worked upon it until little by little it acquired the properties of stone and grew very hard. At first glance it looks like wood but it has lost the other qualities that make wood malleable and useful. For all practical purposes it has become stone.

Backsliders soak up as much of this world as they can. Oh, they might continue to go to church and go through the act of being a Christian but little by little they acquire all the traits of the unbelievers they admire. Their heart hardens toward Me and grows so dense it can no longer hear My Voice clearly to discern good from evil. Their hearts are so hard I can no longer shape them into the likeness of My Son. And if the process of heart hardening is never reversed, they end up as being what they were in the beginning…sinners, but only this time their latter end is worse. It would have been far better if they had never heard of the Way to Salvation than once they began with Me, to turn their back on Me and go back down the Road to Destruction.
