E-Cheer: Worry or Pray

I don't suffer from insanity -- I enjoy every minute of it.

You've all heard the phrase, "Why pray when you can worry." Well, it is a bit
reversed, but perhaps for some it is their true version. I wonder if worrying is a
way of life for some folks, and they would be lost without having something about
which to fret. I believe it can be a chronic condition with some.

It is so easy to tell someone, "Don't worry." But when someone says that to you,
does it help you to get victory over worry? Perhaps not. I doubt if any of you
within the sound of my keyboard can ever honestly say, "I never worry." It is so
human, even for a Christian. True, we are sometimes responsible for creating the
very conditions that cause the worry. Other times, worry is thrust upon us by
circumstances we did create nor can we prevent them.

Sometimes, worry is an effective tool to stir us to some kind of positive action,
but it can become debilitating if we allow the worry to grow uncontrollably. So,
how can we reduce the potential for worry
1) Keep a short account with God -- keep a tightly knit relationship with Him
through Jesus Christ and a sensitivity to the direction of His Holy Spirit.
2) Avoid situations with a potential for disaster. Always "Look before you leap."
Stay away from making "snap" decisions. Rely on my favorite word --
THINK!

Prov. 12:25 (nlt), "Worry weighs a person down; an encouraging word cheers a
person up. Matt. 6:34, ""So don't worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring
its own worries. Today's trouble is enough for today." Need I say more?
