Prayers
My prayer for us as I read from 1 Cor. 13:4-7.
“Love suffers long” – May I always be patient in adversity and willing to stand the tests that may come our way. May I always have strength to stand through the trials and temptations of our lives together.
“Love is kind” – Help me to always be kind, may my words be kind, my actions be kind. May no harsh words that hurt deep come from my mouth. May I always speak words of love and kindness. When I fail, help me to recognize it and ask for forgiveness before it has had time to take root and spring up bitterness.
“Love envies not” – Let their never be jealousies or envies toward each other in any area of our lives. May I rejoice in his successes and be supportive and proud of him for his accomplishments in all areas of his life. May I always recognize the goodness in his heart and offer words of encouragement support.
“Love does not vaunt itself, is not puffed up” – Help me to not have pride and think of myself better than I am. Help me not to be exalted in my good deeds toward my husband or any member of my family. Help me to walk in humility and always be willing to serve, considerate of the needs of others over my own, knowing that you are providing or my needs like no one else can. Let me be a vessel for your use to show your love, mercy and goodness; not that I would be recognized, but that you would be lifted up and exalted in all things.
“Love does not behave unseemly, seeks not her own, not easily provoked, thinks no evil” – Lord, as I read this I can only repent. Forgive me for seeking for my own needs to be met outside of your love and provision for me. Forgive me for letting myself become angry and saying unkind words, speaking from a selfish heart and for allowing ungodly words to come from my mouth and most importantly from my heart. I know your word says from the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh. Forgive me Lord. I know I have behaved unseemly and sought my own. I have looked at things from a self-centered prospective, allowing evil to enter my thoughts. Help me to guard my thoughts, guard my tongue and to not make those same mistakes again. Search my heart Lord and make me more like you.
“Love rejoices not in Iniquity, but rejoices in the truth” – Lord, I know that I have allowed myself to focus upon the desires of my flesh more than on the truth of your word. In doing this, I have alienated myself from your presence and not been the Godly wife, mother and friend that I have needed to be for some time. I ask that you help me to always weigh my wishes against the truth of your word; that I would pray each day and meditate upon the truth of your word continually. Help me to be instant in season and out of season, always having your Truth hid in my heart to fight the attacks of the enemy on my mind and in the lives of those I encounter every day.
“Love bears all things” – Help me to bear all things as Jesus would. May I be Christ-like in my walk from this day forth. As Jesus was as a lamb led to the slaughter, may I be willing to suffer for your glory and bear it in the humility and grace that shines a light for all to see Christ in me.
“Love believes all things” – May I never doubt, but stand firm in faith believing that you are the creator and the author and finisher of my faith. All things are possible through Christ who strengthens me and that no weapon formed against me shall prosper. Knowing that all things work together for the good of me because I love the Lord and am called according to His purposes in Heaven.
“Love hopes all things” – Help me to know that no matter what obstacles I may face in this life, my hope is not in this life, but in the life to come. If I stand faithful and keep pressing toward the mark holding firm to the hand of Jesus and listening to His gentle leading in my life.
“Love endures all things” – May I endure the trials of life with all the grace and humility given by God. May others see the strength that can only come from God and may they see something in me that would cause them to want to know Jesus as their personal savior.
I pray these words sincerely from my heart in the name of Jesus Christ.
Amen
