A dragonfly starts out its life
A strange and homely creature.
One cannot imagine
How changed will be its features.

Bound in ugliness so drab
It lives within the water.
Unaware it will be free
It feeds on bottom fodder.

As time goes by and seasons pass
We see a transformation.
Hold tight, O lovely dragonfly.
You'll soar with great elation.

The time it has on earth to be
Like vapor;time so fleeting,
Is short but oh the majesty
Beheld in every meeting.

Transient society
Deems we too shall pass
Through this veil of vapor
Through moment that won't last.

Let me as the dragonfly
In Your shadow never turning,
Press on reflecting joy to those
I meet along my journey.
