The Gate Keeper,
He watches and knows.
He sees you before you enter;
your hardness, your lack of trust.
Once in the gate, He counsels you
and brings you to the flock.
There you find safety and there
you venture out of yourself.
You become His delight
as you unwrap the gift of
who you are; as He reveals who He is.
You submit more and more
and your awkward movements
flow and laugh - shyly at first;
Over-bold next; and then you find
the way, like a painter making
wonderful mistakes.
And the flock joins in
with truth and healing.
You dare to become.
You open each gift one by one.
You learn to enjoy
the things He has bought you.
You are celebrated for your essence.
More daring, more loved,
you risk long suffering and unselfishness.
Your focus is drawn to Him
and then to His sheep - back and forth.
You are lost, but this time in a found
type of way; losing your self-consciousness.
Lost in the freedom of love
and it’s unique choices,
you begin to see new opportunities -
release past penalties.
Faith does not appear to grow,
it just shows the way and you follow.
You are not passive, but enchanted
and surrounded by direction and wisdom.
No longer needing the check list of
discernment; the chords rehearsed;
you just let yourself play with half attention.
Allowing yourself to enjoy the moment
with awareness.
No longer needing to be close to shore,
you hear the tides roar
but they no longer scare you.
You are let out of the gate,
but are held by His gaze.
You feel it when you are far off.
You were just taking it one
step at a time and you didn’t realize
that you were walking on water.
The praise from you lips
comes from the power of your heart;
Not ashamed of your voice,
you lift it up to the one
who hears and desires it’s expression.
You return to the fold
within the gate where
the truth can be retold and
reminded and relived with depth.
Again, you are released
and the Gate Keeper watches you leave,
sending a word “I’ll see you soon.”
