A Thankful Heart
Basking under the warm radiance of early morning, with the sun’s effervescent luster smiling at me bathing my spirit in astounding joy, I delight even in a simple task as gardening. The deep orange geraniums are in full bloom. I planted them at my backyard about a month ago, watered them every other day, pulled each tiny little weeds that sprouted around them, and really nurtured them like my babies. Today, their magnificent beauty lift me up and inspire me to write my heart out in praise of the Mighty Creator of the Universe.
Heavenly Father, Abba, here I am, with garden hose in hand, with muddy sandals and sweaty clothes, giving you praises , thankfulness and adoration for this beautiful sunshiny day, and for all the wondrous works of Thy hands surrounding me. Thank You for bringing me here in my garden, my sanctuary. I give You my heart’s delight for this precious time, away from the cares of the world, this rare day away from the grind of my materialistic pursuits. This very moment, I can only feel Your presence and what an ecstatic moment of being alone with You! You are embracing me now with Your tender love, even with those sweats pouring down from my forehead and with grimy dirt on my clothes. You don’t look at the outside appearance. You look inside my heart. And with that I am most thankful.
My garage is a mess, full of junks, old trash I wanted to get rid off. But they’re still there idly waiting for me to take notice. I finally did. I grabbed hold of them and threw them all in a huge bin where they belong. Ah, even with a simple task as garage cleaning surprisingly added joy and satisfaction to my heart. I praise You Lord that even for this humble act, You reminded me of my own brokenness, the junks in my life I carried so long. By my humble awareness and sincere repentance of my flaws, my own dirt, You swept them all away by Your blood. My cross You carried for my sake. Your encompassing love enveloped me and made me whole. Words are not enough to describe my gratitude of heart. But even if words are insufficient, You can look inside my heart. And with that I am most thankful.
It’s almost time to gather all my pots and pans, and all the ingredients for lunch . The vegetables and meat are gazing at me as if asking what I like to do with them. First, I’ll chop the meat into tiny bits, marinate them in salt and pepper. They will soak in the flavor that will satisfy my family’s taste buds. Lord, I praise You for blessing me with food for our phyical body. I thank You also for reminding me that I am the salt of the earth. Let me be the flavor for others’ to taste Your love and see Your light.
Dear Heavenly Father, I praise You and thank You as I do my chores. I know You don’t care even if I don’t kneel down, bow my head and lock myself in my room. I can worship You anywhere, anytime, in whatever I’m doing. My heart is in tune with You, the music in my heart is in harmony with Yours. My hands are full, but my heart is open. There’s plenty of room for You, Oh Lord. My physical body is overwhelmed and exhausted, but my spirit is at rest with You. And with that, I am most thankful.
Thank You my Most Loving, Merciful, Gracious Lord. I am ready for the rest of the day. You and I together, oh what a glorious day it will be! Amen.
