I remember looking in the mirror
Admiring what was before me
I remember buttoning up my jeans and
Smiling with ease
I remember walking to my car
With my head held high
I remember thanking God
For making me His beautiful design
I remember looking into my husbands eyes
Not questioning his attraction for me
I remember feeling beautiful
For God had delivered me

So why am I looking in the mirror
Disgusted at what I see
Why do I button up my jeans
Frowning with disbelief
Why do I walk to my car
With my head hung low
Why have I slowly let my deliverance go
Why have I allowed food to control my life
When God has given me strength to win the fight

"My daughter don't you give up now
For I am taking you to higher ground
For as you are willing to trust me
I am preparing you for your destiny
Be consistent and discipline your flesh
You must persevere
Through the temporary pain and distress
Find your comfort and joy in me
And remember that food is not your enemy
See you are using food to fill a void
That can only be satisfied through me
My daughter, you must believe
That you are a woman of destiny"


I will look in the mirror smiling inside
