As I lie here awake waiting for sleep to come,
My mind races with thoughts of my life.
My anxieties seem to dominate, my thoughts over-run,
With manifestations of my daily strife.

Lying here, I try to make it a point,
To acknowledge received blessings I've sought.
But my mind's so occupied, at times I guess I haven't really tried,
So now I sincerely thank you, my Lord:
I'm sorry....I almost forgot.

Scripture says the peace of God will guard our hearts and minds,
And being still and waiting for the Lord to respond, that peace we will surely find..
Giving us rest from all our woes.

However life's worries and tears can be so hard to bear,
An impenetrable wall can seem to fall on my confidence in His control.
From Psalm 55 I know that on the Lord I can cast our cares,
But the spirit of doubt still troubles my soul.

As I dwell on these things of earthly concern,
My answered prayers I may at times acknowledge not.
So here and now in the name of Jesus Christ I affirm,
I thank you, my Savior........
Please forgive me........I almost forgot.
