... nor shall I offer to the Lord offerings which cost me nothing ...

2Samuel 24:24

Offerings which cost me nothing
Have fallen on these stones
And never reached with blessing
Where You sit upon Your throne

Written from the seat of ease
A coffer I might fill
Or time poured out within some walls
That harbors all I will

These offerings never find their way
Beyond this chiseled stone
That makes a life of comfort
My easy offering’s home

But in the midst of sorrow’s tears
Upon the stones my praise do rest
The fragrance of those offered words
Your very heart has blessed

When all I cherish and desire
Lays upon this altar dear
My offerings fall as blessings sweet
And You draw me ever nearer.

Such poetic truth. Oh Lord, may my all on the altar of sacrifice lay.

I often think 'where's the sacrifice' in my offering. Sadly, it's not more than it is. Thank you for the reminder.

May my life, my all-in-all, my everything that means anything whatsoever to me be a sweet smelling sacrifice laid upon the Rock. What do we have that is worth keeping? We can't take it with us. And all that we have was His first anyway. BEAUTIFUL, BEAUTIFUL, BLESSED, SPIRIT-ORDAINED POETRY!!!
