Driftwood the Lost Soul
I’m drawn to you when I walk on the beach
You have a message you tell a story
Where did you come from?
A lost soul thrown from the ocean of life?
What mighty tree did you once adorn?
Did you easily slip into the sea?
Or were you beat constantly by mighty waves?
Did you take the whole tree with you?
Or did you leave by yourself, a chunk of wood adrift?
By the time my hands meet your surface
You have dried and are almost weightless.
It’s hard to imagine that you once part of a tree.
Twisted and aged. Knotty in places, hollow in others.
You remind me of a person – aged beyond years
Tired from the weariness of life.
I now have two choices
I can leave you where you are
And possibly you will remain on the beach, eventually covered by the sands of time
Or perhaps carried back out again
And eventually thrown on to another beach at the other end of the world
Where you may lose more of your substance
And eventually be nothing more than a grain
Or I can tuck you safely in my bag and take you home
Where you will decorate my garden
The center of attention
Like you were once as you adorned the tree
Lifeless you will remain
Yet a novel you will speak
As I imagine where you have been
And what you once were.
Psalms 139:15 (KJV) My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.

WOW! Just..... wow! God doesn’t forget a single branch! I am reminded of John 15:5. Yet, even those who do not remain in Him or bear Him good fruit, He doesn’t forget them. They may be “driftwood.” But He doesn’t forget them!!! They are the work of His hands, fearfully and wonderfully made!
Jounda, this is beautiful! Oh that we might see each lost soul adrift, as something beautiful to adorn the Garden of our Lord. In His love, Sharon
Dear Jounda, I really do love this lovely writing, and went right along the beach with you in your adventure and friendship, and understanding with the piece of driftwood..the lost soul found and celebrated.
