“It is these truths that we hold as Self-Evident that all Men are Created Equal and Endowed by their Creator with certain Inalienable Rights [among these] are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness."
This line, from the Declaration of Independence, has been in our consciousness since childhood. But many of us never ponder its meaning. Our forefathers wanted to make a statement. They wanted America to remain forever free. They understood that if a government granted rights then it could also take them away. As their hearts burned with the want of freedom, they realized that that want was Divine. They realized that God placed it in their hearts. The right to live free came from Him.
As recipients of this blessed right of freedom, we are commanded by God to steward it well. It is our mission in this life to propagate this precious gift to the world. We must bring light to those that are oppressed by the darkness of tyranny and brutality. Many say that our cause in Iraq is not worth the sacrifice. You and I know that is not true. Young men and women, such as you, who are willing to pay the price of freedom, are due our respect. I dread the day when we no longer value freedom as a priceless gift from God and as such deserving of our sacrifice.
Your cause is just and we pray for your safe return.

Thank you so much for your encouraging and uplifting words to our troops, they Sacrifice so much, my heart is saddend, however knowing that many of them may never know of the original Sacrifice that lead to our freedom in the first place. Many of our troops don't know Jesus Christ, and themselves are not free. As these young men and women fight to free the oppressed, I pray all of them also become free in Christ.
