The Purer Love

I declared to go to the ends of the earth,
To claim my love sublime;
He crossed the expanse of Eternity,
Because He longed for mine.

I thought I knew all the pain of love,
Until my eyes, filled with tears,
Could not see.
Until I looked into the eyes of Him,
Who shed not just tears, but blood,
For me.

Now I know the purer love,
And though I yet would give my all,
Never could I match the gift,
Of the One, before Whom I now fall.
