It happens every day -
Especially to little boys
Whether they’re outside running
Or inside playing with toys.

They always seem to find a way
To dramatically fall down.

Sometimes they fall on the carpet;
Sometimes they fall on the ground.
Sometimes they make a lot of noise;
Sometimes they don’t make a sound.
Sometimes they have a soft landing;
Sometimes they fall pretty hard.
Sometimes they just get a scratch;
Sometimes they end up with a scar.
Sometimes it’s because they were daring;
Sometimes it’s because they were playing.
Sometimes it’s not really their fault;
Sometimes you end up praying.
Sometimes they do it on purpose;
Sometimes they do it for kicks.
Sometimes you can see it coming;
Sometimes it happens too quick.

It is part of life, you know?
This falling-down-all-the-time thing.
So you better get used to it
Unless, of course, your child has wings.
So before you get too comfortable
With your child safe on the ground-
