The twilight lingers and gradually fades
The clouds gently shut in the day
The bars of the night are sliding in place
The meadows are putting on grey.
Then why should it be my seeing grows clear
As I walk on the darkening loam?
Perhaps it's nothing to do with the night,
But that I've come closer to home.
The light's in the window, the door's ajar
The fire in the hearth burns bright
And now each step draws me near my desire
Where I'm sure that all will be right.
My pace is quicker, my heart's beating strong,
As I leave the dark world behind
For I'm living more over yonder now
And I know full well what I'll find.
