One Week
This is the amazing story of a friend of mine.
Too look at him you would call him small, slight, thin.
He is a softly spoken Indian man.
The first time I saw him I thought how quiet and unassuming he looked almost girlish in his stature.
Then he took the floor of our church and made that guitar sing.
From the first note he had us all hooked.
His music held a bit of every culture within its cords.
That in itself was worth every second of my time but then he told us his story.

He had been raised in India.
He was the last son of a well off Christian family.
He had suffered with asthma as a child and had to taken many drugs for it,
which had left him with poor health and limited lung capacity.
From his earliest recollections he had been told he was useless and that he would never amount to anything.
No one thought that he would achieve much with his life.
When he was about 16 he became suicidal.
He thought of himself as useless and life held no meaning for him.
Because of his mothers urging he went to a Christian camp and heard afresh about Jesus.
So not knowing what to do he decided to say one last prayer and give god a week to show up or shut up.
That was too be a never ending week.
God showed himself to be faithful.
He is now in his early thirties and god has never let him down.
He developed an interest in music and found an old guitar on a rubbish dump.
No strings and quite battered but he fixed it up with broken strings from other musicians discards.
He practiced for hours and hours asking that god teach him and use him.
Soon he became quite an accomplished musician.

He still has many heath issues.
He suffers from rheumatoid arthritis and according to all the doctors should not be able to play the guitar at all let alone with gracefulness with which he does.
He has played around the world to many foreign countries.
He has played in places where the atmosphere is so thin that he should not even been able to breathe.
He has been allowed into Muslim countries where he has escaped the authorities notice and brought worship to the isolated Christians there.
God has even provided the new guitar for him.
A ten thousand dollar one at that.
The lord put it on the heart of a famous Christian guitarist in Australia to donate it to him.
His testimony is of how god provides for his every need.
He lives every day dependant on god to meet his health and financial needs.
Truly he represents what god can do with a life when it is fully turned over to him.
