A Period Or Three

Alvin Webb, a Christian minister, stood before his rural Oklahoma congregation to speak at the funeral of a deceased church member. Pastor Webb referred to a person’s life as being a period or three periods.

Pastor Webb noted that a single period represents the end of a sentence, finality. Three dots or periods represent continuation, infinity.

Pastor Webb asked the congregation: “Will your life be a period ending in eternal condemnation to hell? Or will your life continue forever with the Father, Son and Holy Spirit in everlasting happiness, unconditional love and joy unknown to an earthly human.

The single period represents ‘me,’ ‘myself’ and ‘I’. The single period also represents the love of our money over God, our lust filled life, our culture of death that values not what God has brought forth.

It does not matter how much is in one’s bank account, the size and the extent of your personal property and the beauty of your vehicle. What does matter is your relationship or lack of one with the Savior, Jesus Christ.

At this moment is your chance. Do not wait for it may be your last! Today thousands of people will get out of bed go to work, school or shopping for the last time today. They will be young, middle aged and old. Jesus gave you Himself, His life and His Word as examples to live by. Not by force but freely out of love. You may call on the Father, Son or Holy Spirit any time of the day or night and be recognized and heard.

So what must one do? First, slow down and pray daily to make yourself aware of what is right and wrong, true and real, honest and Godly.

Second, love God with your whole heart and soul, and your life as God, your Father, would desire you to live.

Third, be slow to anger, quick to reconcile and forgive those who have wronged or offended you, and practice a life of mercy and compassion with all.

So, when your time comes, will your life be a single period ending in eternal damnation or three periods of continuation in eternal happiness, unconditional love and unspeakable joy? YOU HAVE A CHOICE!”

It is said that you cried at your birth signifying your entry into the journey of your earthly life. At your death, will the tears of your loved ones and friends signal your joyful heavenly re-birth or a period?
