My tear
I had a thought of you and shed a silent tear.
All the familiar feelings came rushing back
As I walked along memories track.
All we had shared and done
All the times of fun.

I shed a tear for you this morning
As I watch a new day dawning
Realising afresh times good and bad
And how much I miss you dad.

And so I shed a tear for self
Not that I am truly sad,
But just that I miss you dad.
I miss the naughtiness that lit your eyes
As you teased my little lad.

I let that tear roll down my cheek
Remembering how you got slower and weak
How hard it became even to speak.
Daddy dear I would not wish you back again
To your silent world of pain,
And so I shed a tear for you today.

I know that you have gone to glory,
Not the end of your story,
And where you are there is joy,
My laughing teasing man/father /boy.

And so I shed a tear today….
