Intimacy, why does that word make me cringe?
Because I am living my life on the fringe.
Afraid to step out beyond my invisible wall,
Being trusting and vulnerable, what if I fall?

I thought I had taken all my walls down,
Seems an invisible one remains that surrounds.
It's not really there for anyone to see,
Accustomed to my prison, it's only real to me.

"Into me see" creates real fear,
For it will reveal all I hold dear.
Searching inside me with a flashlight,
All my dark corners being brought into sight.

Don't know if it's past hurts left unhealed,
That makes me want to keep my heart sealed.
Or if it's love for myself that I lack,
That causes me to keep holding back.

If just for a moment I could see,
Myself the way that Jesus sees me.
What an amazing awakening it would bring,
To see the righteous child of the King.

To personally experience that awesome love,
And gentle peace that comes from above.
My life would never be the same
Being flooded with love in Jesus' name.
