What Is Your Purpose?
Success is not measured in what you own or what you drive or what kind of house you live in; success is measured each and every day on your attitude and your relationship with God and with people. Success is living each day with a focused purpose.
I attended a retreat at our church a couple of years ago. It was very thought provoking and an eye opener to me. From that retreat, the Lord gave to me a definite purpose for my life. I had never actually put it down in concrete form or words until then. I would like to share this with you.
The purpose of my life is to love God with all my heart, all my soul, all my mind and all my strength and to love my neighbor as my self. To glorify God in all that I do, so others may see Christ in me.
My purpose is to love, reverence, submit and obey my husband and to do him good all the days of his life. To be sober, discreet, chaste, good, to love my children and grandchildren and to be a keeper at home, so the word of God would not be blasphemed.
My purpose is not to please men but to please God who trusted me with the Gospel.
I exist to live in an abiding fellowship with Jesus Christ and to have a deep and meaningful fellowship with other Christians.
I exist to share the good news of Christ to the lost, to proclaim the power of His words and the wonder of His love.
I have this posted by my mirror where I usually do my make-up and I am challenged every time I read it to live purposely.
Are you thinking, is she some kind of super Christian or what? My reply would be, I am far, far, far from that! Do I do everything that I have purposed? No, more days that most, I fall very short, (if you follow me around enough, you would see!). Other days, however, it’s what the A-Team used to say on their T.V. show…”I love it when a plan comes together!” A successful, delightful day to me is when God’s purpose and my purpose for that day are one and the same!
Have you prayed about your purpose for your life?
Have you written it down and posted it where you can read it?
I pray that you may have many successful, delightful days ahead!
