"Who Can I Turn To?"

" You must not turn aside, for then you would go after futile things which can not profit or deliver, because they are futile." - 1 Samuel 12:21

"Only fear the Lord and serve Him in truth with all your heart; for consider what great things He has done for you." - 1 Samuel 12:24


Most of us are familiar with the old popular song that echoes the sentiment of the songwriter's heart and most people's hearts as well: "Who can I turn to..when nobody needs me..my heart wants to know and so I must go where destiny leads me..."

The Bible is filled with rebellious and disobedient people and we had read how God's wrath had come to them, even to His own chosen people. On the other hand, for those who turned to Him, obeyed Him, and served Him wholeheartedly, He gave blessings after blessings. I believe what happened 2000 years ago is still happening now.

If only we focus on God's mighty power, and His unconditional love for us, we won't be asking, "Who can I turn to?" when things don't go our way. For His ways are not ours and our thoughts are not His. While we see the present and even our seemingly hopeless situation, He sees the big picture. He only wants the best for us even when at times we don't see it that way.

One of the blessings of writing devotionals is that it reminds me of what is most important and hopefully for those who will be willing to read this may be reminded as well. Someone said, "You can not teach what you don't know." Maybe, maybe not. For me, to know something, I share and write about it. Yes, faith comes from hearing, not only hearing but by reading, teaching, writing and obeying the Word of God. For someone as stubborn as me, I will need loads of patience and humility. I can not do it without the right focus.

With our own strength and ability, we can not accomplish what we're aiming for. Only God can. Without Him, we are nothing.

The challenge is, " Are we turning our attention solely on Him?"

PRAYER:
Lord Jesus, You are indeed who You claim You are. Your love for us is incomparable. Your greatness is immeasurable. We maybe helpless and weak, but Your strength is sufficient for us. We maybe sad and lost, but You help us be joyful again as You lead us to Your way. Please help us not to turn aside from You, not to get distracted but to fix our eyes on You alone, from now on. In Your Most Precious Name, Amen.

THOUGHT for TODAY: Whatever we do is an act of worship if we do it for God.
