“Altarized!”

The year was 1972. I was six years old, when after being in a Revival service; I first knelt at an altar in church and invited Jesus into my heart.

Even at six years old, I knew I needed Jesus to forgive me of my
sins (all those things I was doing that God didn’t like). After I finished praying, I was so excited, I think I went all over the church telling everyone what had happened.

I remember running out the church doors where my older brother was playing. He started picking on me the way older brothers are inclined to do (in a friendly way, of course). As he put his hand on my head to hold me in place, I screamed, “You can’t bother me! I’ve been “ALTARIZED!”

My brother and his friends thought that was so funny! I didn’t know all the terminology at the time, but I knew what I had done was real. I became a Christian!

That was thirty-two years ago and God has never left me and He never will. Have I lived the “Perfect Christian Life”? No Way! I have a lot of regrets about things I have done in my past and have asked God for forgiveness more times than I can count. He is my closest friend and my Savior.

As I write this, I’m listening to Mercy Me’s Song “I can only Imagine”. It’s a great song that basically says; I can only imagine what it will be like when I get to Heaven. Surrounded by God’s Glory, what will my heart feel? Will I stand in His presence, or to my knee’s will I fall?

God is a great God! And deserves all my praise! He alone is worthy!
