The Long Way Around
My mind races,
Seldom still.
My thoughts wander,
Against my will.
All too soon,
I turn the page;
Losing the savor,
As a pray.
Paths are taken,
Down winding roads,
Of burdens and hopes,
Today’s heavy loads.
My Maker waits,
With Gentle Staff,
Already knowing,
This won’t last.
Guided to His Presence,
The long way around.
Guided to His Peace,
Finally safe and sound.

Pat, many of us take the long way around, but oh, what we learn on the journey. We only see the bottom of the tapestry, but He sees from above and is making beauty of our lives, even our mistakes. The long way around creates in us His character and draws us to His precious side. Thanks for this piece. It really made me think and encouraged me.
