Your warm kiss
And long embrace
Tease memories
From my dusty archives
Dawn to dusk
I ran like a stallion
Laughing in the face of time
Sandlots, picnics and magical days
An imagination that knew no bounds
Nimble and fleeting your playful hand held mine
As we colored the pages of my life
Promise and dreams you held each day
No foe I could not conquer
No part I could not play
I see you now through an angry sky
It is not you who has changed but I

Inhaling deeply of your warm breath
I'm fearful to exhale
Like grasping oil or chasing the wind
No man can say you are mine

You seem distant and harder and colder
Or is your reflection obscured by my age
You flirt with the child bemasked in my heart
To come out and play one more time

I turn my head to wipe a tear from my eye
Grateful that you would remember my name
In that bemused second on fickle wings you fly
Hello Summer, Goodbye
