LORD: Abram, "Go from your country and your kindred and your father's house to the land that I will show you."

Abram: You want me to do what?

LORD: I said, "Go from your country…"

Abram: Leave? You want me to leave my home?

LORD: "and your kindred…"

Abram: Even Aunt Bess? Who's going to take care of Aunt Bess?

LORD: "and your father's house…"

Abram: Do you realize how long that house has been in the family?

LORD: "to the land that I will show you."

Abram: Where are you taking me? Can you be a little more specific?

LORD: (clearing his throat, louder and more slowly) "to the land that I will show you."

Abram: Alright. I heard you. It would just be nice to know what to pack. And the chickens… You know they don't travel well. What am I to do with the chickens?

LORD: "I will make of you a great nation…"

Abram: How many people are going along with me? Oh no. You don't mean I am supposed to take the in-laws too? Not the in-laws.

LORD: "and I will bless you, and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing."

Abram: (silence - Abram considers the possibilities)

LORD: I said, "and I will bless you, and…"

Abram: (interrupting) I heard you the first time. I'm just thinking. Is there any more to it?

LORD: "I will bless those who bless you, and the one who curses you I will curse; and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed."

Abram: (still silent and mulling it over)

LORD: (clearing throat again) "I will bless those who bless you…"

Abram: Okay, okay, okay. I'll do it. I just have one more question. (long pause) What's a blessing?

Inspired by Genesis 12:1-4

Gary, that was great. How much sacrifice Abraham went through - "the in-laws". Shocking!

I really enjoyed it.

God Bless!
Sincerely,
