I wrote this after seeing a poster I saw for Acquire the Fire with a picture of a stupid-looking, plastic bobble-head Jesus that said, "Don't you just hate plastic Christianity?" I loved it. This is a message for a lot of my youth group!

~~~~~~~~~~~~
The thing these days is to keep our worldly ways
While saying we belong to God.
Keeping Him hidden, like some token religion,
To me seems very odd.
You laugh with your friends, forgetting Satan wins,
When you ignore the outcast.
You play church with him when you should become his friend,
And time is running out fast.
You’re gonna lose him.
You’re gonna lose him.
Don’t give me your plastic Christianity.
You play a game that you could never hope to win.
I say, I’ll stand with you, I’ll be your friend, but
There will be no religious social club for me.
-Don’t give me your plastic Christianity.
Drop the baggage, your faith, it’s not pre-packaged.
-But it’s a package deal.
It’s all or nothing, you’re always gonna stand for something,
So choose the somethin that is real.
You can’t get away with living day-to-day
Trying to look just like them.
Or didn’t you know, if with the world you do go,
It’s hatred toward Him?
You can’t have it both ways.
You can’t have it both ways.
Don’t give me your plastic Christianity.
You play a game that you could never hope to win.
I say, I’ll stand with you, I’ll be your friend, but
There will be no religious social club for me
-Don’t give me your plastic Christianity.
Don’t give me your plastic Christianity.
You play a game that you could never hope to win.
I say, I’ll stand with you, I’ll be your friend, but
There will be no religious social club for me
-Don’t give me your plastic Christianity.
Out with the cliques, no more cute tricks.
We’ve seen your big fake smile for quite a while.
It’s time we learned to feel, time that we got real.
If sincerity is our mission...
Then maybe someone else will want to be a Christian.
