Upon reaching heaven
I was delighted to see
The mysteries of my life
Would be shown to me

I’d be able to view it
As my Father had
It would all make sense now
The thought made me glad

As together we watched
A gold path did appear
I saw branches and curves
And its meaning was clear

The path was my life
And the part that was golden
Was the plan God had made
Because I was chosen

The many branches and Y’s
Leading away
Marked decisions and choices
I’d made on my way

“How foolish,” I thought
“Those paths clearly were wrong!”
I’d been sure I was right
It was the same all along

My stubborn, selfish pride
Had taken strong hold
Leaving sorrow and pain
Grievous heartache untold

But as my gaze traced on
I began to see
My walk with the Savior
Made changes in me

More often than not
My path followed His now
I was learning and growing
My knees quick to bow

My yoke became lighter
As my Jesus would teach
Full of comfort and strength
And His hand within reach

Every time I had strayed
When my life missed the mark
My Redeemer was there
Bringing light to the dark

God had always been faithful
Although I had not
He had always been present
Though He hadn’t been sought

With His hand on my shoulder
I was never so blessed
“I’m so glad you’re here,”
He said, “Enter my rest.”
