This story first caught my eye in the Jan 2005 issue of the Futurist.
According to the findings, if current trends continue, nearly 85% of Black people will find themselves on Food Stamps at some point in their lives.
It is in reference to a Cornell University study so one can hardly blame it on right-wing Republican propaganda.
And speaking of Republicans, over the past several days, a number of Republicans (including President Bush) have stirred up a fuss that Blacks are cheated out of Social Security because on average they do not live as long as Caucasians and such.
From this story, it seems that particular ethnic group more than makes up for it in terms of other welfare entitlement programs though.
Are we going to release comments to the media that Food Stamps are a bad investment of White dollars and that we should instead go to a program of privatized nutritional accounts?
Some courageous academic or think tank scholar should do a study to determine if the reduced statistical longevity has anything to do with the larcenous activity younger members of this demographic are known to wallow in.
Maybe if they would behave themselves, there would be more of them around to collect their Social Security checks.
Maybe if their food stamp allowances were cut, they wouldn’t have as much time on their hands and thus have a better chance of making it to retirement since their time would be spent on work and self improvement rather than seeing how much trouble they can get into.
Interesting, isn’t it, how the government is eager to cut out a program you work to qualify for but seems bent on expanding the scope of unearned handouts.

I think you would be more accurate in stating that 85% of blacks LIVING IN POVERTY-STRICKEN CIRCUMSTANCES are on food stamps. Understand this: Those 'blacks on food stamps' aren't welcome unless they have little children to feed. So, the 'handouts' are actually going to the kids, who didn't ask for them in the first place. Their parents likely wouldn't need them, and if they did need them they couldn't qualify for them without children. The other 15% are blacks LIVING IN POVERTY who can't get food stamps because they don't have children, and it should be 100% because those people shouldn't be allowed to starve to death either. I think it makes America look pretty bad to have anyone starving, don't you? This is not a third world country being slammed on a daily basis by mortars and rockets and suicide bombers walking the streets.
Our tax dollars go to whites and Hispanics who collect food stamps, as well.
I thought this was a website for Christians and spiritual people, not race-mongers. I don't believe Jesus would approve of that kind of attitude: "The poor you will have with you always," our Savior said.
And they come in ALL races, shapes, sizes, and sexes. I have given quite a bit of money to homeless Caucasian men and women on the streets trying to get a sandwich, a cigarette, or another beer. One lady, a blonde who I really wanted to take home and fix her hair and give her some clothes and makeup and show her how to go job-hunting, was standing on a street corner in a pretty prestigious neighborhood, with five precious little kids - stomp barefoot - and it was cold outside.
I gave her the last $20 bill I had in my purse on the way to the grocery store and told her McDonald's was two blocks down the street. I couldn't afford to do what I wanted to do, but I felt better knowing the children at least ate that night.
