Obedience. As long as I can remember that word has continuously stopped me dead in my tracks. Now, I completely understand what obedience means; however, submitting to obedience is another story in itself.
God has called all of his children to obey him. Although we may disagree, obeying God is a solid demand, a commandment, not a choice. Within the Ten Commandments, we are told to obey our fathers and mothers; little to we think to apply this commandment to our Lord. Even though God controls the whole universe in the palm of his hand, he is still the gentle and approachable father we run to when we fall down. Obedience is demanded of us all because God wants to keep us in line and he deserves to be obeyed by his people.
God could ask us to give him many things. In reality, we should have been the ones suffering on the cross; however, we have a loving Father that took our place. God could ask us to sacrifice our lives and die, but he only asks for our mere obedience to him. When you think about it, we owe God much more than obedience, but that is simply all he asks us for. Shouldn’t we jump at the chance to obey our merciful Father?
