If it were an option
To empty the heart
Of ALL 'misalignments'
And make a new start;

Would feelings be there
Which could not be released...
Emotions that fetter
And rob us of peace?

Would jealous suspicions
Still find their way back;
Could spite and resentment
Become joy and tact?

Would there be a difference
That others might see;
(Have MY 'misalignments'
Become part of me?)

The option is there...
One may empty the heart
Deciding to keep
ONLY noblest parts!
