The Word for Writers

If I'm obsessed (I may well be!)
With writing thoughts that come to me,
Invading sleep throughout the night,
Then jotted down before it's light.....
I kick the covers all around
Lurch out of bed and write them down!

If I'm obsessed (perhaps I AM!)
Without my pen the door would slam
And lock unfinished lines within
To disappear in air, so thin.
With writing words, I AM possessed...
Removing doubt that I'm obsessed!

I write of all the things I know;
Where I have been or WISH to go;
Sometimes I smile, then shed a tear
To find a painful mem'ry near.....
The years have passed....I'm 'getting on'...
Who'll write MY thoughts when I am gone?
