One evening I went to my husband, John, with a slew of problems I had faced during the week. I just needed to vent. Of course I opened our conversation with that wonderful phrase, “I need your advice.” Then, I droned on about my situation for the next several minutes while he listened intently and patiently. Then I made a terrible mistake! You see somewhere in the middle of my complaint secession I threw out the comment, “I guess I might need to pray about it...” In a split second my intent and patient husband swooped down on me like a vulture to his prey. “Okay then” he interrupted “let’s pray.” “What??” I defensively responded, “I can’t pray yet! I’m still griping! I can’t pray and gripe at the same time.”

It took a full two seconds for my words to sink into my brain. And, let me tell you…it was humbling. How many times do we complain, grumble and gripe before we pray. Wouldn’t it be better for us (and those who listen to us vent) if we prayed first. Isn’t that a novel idea? Let’s see if we can get it straight:
A.We’re faced with a problem.
B.We take it to God...first.

One more time, just in case we missed it the first time around:
A. We’re faced with a problem.
B. We take it to God...first.

It’s a simple enough process – just two steps. Try it this week! You might be amazed at the results.
