The Lord’s my light and salvation,
To whom shall I of all time fear;
My stronghold and my foundation,
To whom I honor and revere.

When evildoers assail me,
My adversaries and my foes;
They stumble and fall I can see,
And causes faith and trust to grow.

Though an army camps around me,
My heart and soul shall never fear;
Yet my confidence that I can see,
Knowing that my Lord’s always near.

One thing that I have asked the Lord,
That in His house that I may dwell;
Gazing on His beauty not ignored,
And save me from the depths of hell.

He shall hide me in his fortress,
In the day of trouble, I shall hide;
Calm me from the chaotic stress,
He lifts me up as I abide.

And now my head is lifted up,
Above my foes that surround me;
The heavenly nectar in my cup,
Sacrificial joy sets me free.
